Rocliff commits to safer roads through adoption of advanced fleet tech

Rocliff, the independent, family-owned workwear supplier, sought a pioneering fleet management solution that would ensure the safety of the company’s delivery drivers on their routes throughout the West Midlands and mid Wales.

Offering commercial laundry services and personalised workwear rental for every industry from food and drink through to the emergency services, Rocliff runs a busy fleet of drivers making weekly deliveries to customers across several counties, and the business prides itself on the timely, professional service it is able to provide.

With this in mind, brand reputation on the road is of utmost importance, as is the safety of employees as they make these journeys. It was this that led Rocliff to trial Lightfoot’s award-winning driver coaching technology, with a view to reducing road risk and guiding drivers away from dangerous and inefficient habits behind the wheel.

The trial proved a great success, with Rocliff’s drivers showing a huge amount of improvement between the blind and live phases. This included a 13.3% increase in MPG, a 94% reduction in dangerous driving, and yearly CO2 savings of almost 11 tonnes across the fleet.

Here’s what Charlie Howard, Operations Manager at Rocliff, had to say about the decision to introduce Lightfoot to the company’s small fleet of vehicles:

“Keeping all our team members safe – whether they’re on the road or onsite at our factory – is paramount to our family-run business.

This is why we decided to implement Lightfoot’s driver coaching solution, as we want to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our team whilst they’re travelling to and from deliveries.

The change in driver behaviour in the first few months was very interesting, and it’s great to be able to monitor how each driver performs. We’ve seen a reduction in fuel usage, as well as instances of speeding and harsh events such as rapid acceleration. This means our fleet drivers are more aware of how they’re driving, and safer habits have started to become the norm.

What’s also really useful is that through the Lightfoot app, our drivers are responsible for maintaining their vehicles and carrying out vehicle checks once a week using the in-built checklist. This has been a great help to our department and again ensures that safety remains a top priority.

The team at Lightfoot have been really friendly and supportive, and I can safely say that it’s been a hugely positive experience for the business bringing this system into the Rocliff fleet.”
